Plants of the Savannah

Umbrella thorn acacia

The tree can grow up to a whopper of 20 meters high. Only one animal is immune to the thorns on the acacia which is a giraffe. The acacia provides a lot of things good shade, good charcoal, good firewood and good honey. It is used to treat asthma also it’s used for porridge.

Elephant Grass

Elephant grass originally came from Africa in 1913 and grows up to 10 feet tall. Local farmers take it back for their animals. Elephant grass can be killed by just a little bit of frost. Elephant grass doesn’t reproduce by birth. Many birds will make their nests in their strands

Baobab

The baobab is found in the savannah in India and in Africa mostly in the equator. It can grow 25 meters tall and can live for several thousand years. The baobab is leafless for nine months of the year. The baobab has a fire-resistant trunk and its trunk is filled with water. All of the baobab parts are used. The bark is used for cloth and rope, the leaves is use for medicines while the fruit which is called monkey bread is eaten.
