A savannah is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees. Savannah has warm whether all year round. There are really two seasons a long dry season (winter) and a very wet season. In winter there is only 4inches of rain, between December and February there will be no rain fall at all.

In the summer there is quite a lot of rain there is an average of 15 to 25 inches it gets really hot through the rainy season. There are seven savannahs across the globe. The most familiar known ones are east African savannahs covered with acacia trees. The Serengeti plains of Tanzania are some of the most well known. The most well known animals in the savannah are the lion, giraffe, warthog and the gazelle.

Most of the animals of the savannah have long legs or have wings. Many other animals burrow a hole to keep away from the heat.
